This Mothers Day was great, I got to talk to my mom, sent her flowers and recorded a song to play for her. I also got the kids to help me get up and grab some McDonald’s food as well as buy a Mr Coffee for Charity, she loved it. And then to top off the great weekend spent with the kids, I decided to get that free month of Netflix they been promising (lol) and loving it. Gavin and Harmony both know how to go on the computer and search and start playing the movies instantly. I think I actually feel good now that technology is caught up enough that its easier to just use netflix that to pirate movies. Back to supporting great films. Too bad I think I am supporting the terrible ones too but Netflix is a must have for everyone, seriously… You can instantly watch from computers, iPad, iPhone an Xbox 360, PS3 and even the Nintendo Wii. Then if you really want them to mail you dvd’s of movies to watch (like I ever use media (dvd’s cd’s) anymore though) then you can. I took some pictures of the babies all trying to rock my hat and be super cool as well as their cousin Austin. Enjoy the photos and as I got home tonight I found a package in the mail, it was the latest UsCast pass out cards. Anyone want one? They are cool and hopefully they will be helpful in getting the word out… Want some? Seriously, just post a comment and let me know and I will get a few dozen to you to give to people. This week is spring break but it doesn’t mean anything is stopping. Now is the time to start going outdoors and doing some great activities with the kids. Flying kites, frisby or and sport like a football to throw around. It gets hot out there so stay hydrated with perferabily water. Here are your pictures of our spring break adventure at the park. Last year, a group of Super Mario Brother’s fanatics got together and played variations of the video game 55 hours straight for charity, raising better than $11,000 in total. This year,Mario Marathon is back, and once again the gamers are broadcasting live on Ustream, intent to complete all of the games by the end of the weekend (or however long it takes).
The event seems to be off to a good start. There are currently almost 1,000 people watching the group sit on a couch and play their way through the games, while Ustream’s integration with Twitter has lots of users chatting and using the hashtag #mariomarathon. And so far, more than $4,000 has been raised for Child’s Play, a charity that gives games, toys, and books to sick children.
Mario Marathon has some other cool tie-ins to keep followers interested. Fans can submit artwork for inclusion on their site, and both donors and those using the #mariomarathon hashtag will be eligible for prizes that will be held throughout the marathon. You can also keep up with the gamer’s progress in completing the challenge on their homepage.
